At the end of May 2012, the EU Cookie Directive was put into effect. In short, this directive includes the need to let visitors aware that cookies are being used within the site and that by continuing to browse the site they accept this.

Shane Jones and I have developed a plugin that is very simple – it adds a small popup bar on your screen letting people know there are cookies being used and letting the person accept this or view more information on the matter. If you look to the bottom right of this website you will see the plugin in action.

Installation:

  1. Download the plugin direct from the Plugin Page at WordPress.
  2. Upload the whole plugin folder to your /wp-content/plugins/ folder.
  3. Go to the Plugins page and activate the plugin
  4. Configure the settings in the admin area
  5. Done!

I use the EU Cookie Law on http://www.enter4profit.com. It works well with all browsers. Unlike similar plugin, EU Cookie Law plugin is designed very nicely. It is especially effective when I visit a website via smartphones.

But the only thing I liked is that when a visitor clicks on the “more information” to open my Privacy Policy page. Popup option shall remain. This would mean that I, as admin I have a choice between two options.

Is this plugin compatible with WP v3.71?

    Thanks

This can technically be done but at the moment the plugin works better for lots of people as the popup. You can still link to where you want to from within the popup itself.

And yes it’s compatible with 3.7.1
